About Rebecca

Rebecca is a highly regarded specialist insurance Partner who has practised for more than 28 years in the area of property and injury liability.

Representing insurance clients at local, national and international levels, she advises on a broad range of claims including personal and property damage, public liability, product liability, and policy drafting and indemnity issues. She also has significant experience in sports, recreational and leisure liability, hotels, clubs and security liability, workplace and contractual liability, education and care liability and claims arising from fire loss and recoveries.

Rebecca has extensive experience in defending claims under the Personal Injuries Proceeding Act 2002 (Qld) and the Civil Liability Act and Regulations 2003 (Qld) across a wide variety of liability claims for insurers, brokers, claims handlers and corporate self-insureds with high deductibles.

With a pro-active approach to claims management, Rebecca ensures all stakeholders are kept informed of developments and is adept at identifying opportunities for the early commercial resolution of matters. Rebecca is known for her commitment to ensuring a realistic reserve recommendation is made as early as possible and for meeting her clients’ reporting requirements.

Highly experienced with complex matters – including the interpretation of various tort reform legislation and the application of exclusion clauses in public liability policies and indemnity and dual insurance issues – Rebecca has both the experience and the expertise to resolve claims with her client’s commercial objectives at the forefront.

Rebecca has represented clients at compulsory conferences, mediations and trials and has a particular interest in multi-party and catastrophic claims. She conducts most conferences without counsel and regularly provides clients with industry specific seminars on legislative and tort reform issues.

Widely recognised for her market leading expertise, Rebecca was named Lawyer of the Year – Product Liability Litigation in 2020 and Lawyer of the Year – Personal Injury Litigation in 2019.

She is a past president of the Australian Insurance Law Association, Queensland Chapter and was made a Life Member of the association at its 2022 National Conference. Rebecca was also included in Insurance Business Australia’s list of Elite Women in 2023.
