Working closely with leading industry participants, David is highly regarded for his work assisting both construction organisations and insurers of major construction and development projects.

David reviews, prepares, and negotiates a wide range of agreements for commercial, mining, and infrastructure projects – including in relation to construction, engineering, procurement, maintenance, finance, and consultancy. He is regularly involved in transactions and disputes in line with Australian Standard Construction Contracts and provides expert guidance on their application and interpretation relevant to major projects.

In relation to construction insurance, David has successfully represented insurers and reinsurers in large material damage and business interruption claims across multiple sectors throughout Australia. He has an intimate understanding of policies that relate to construction professionals – including for Contract Works, Contractors’ All Risk, Industrial Special Risk, products liability, and professional indemnity.

In addition to his specialist legal expertise, David has a commercial approach and deep level of industry knowledge gained from his experience working for the engineering division of Queensland Transport. His understanding of civil constructions and mechanical industries is extensive, and he has published numerous articles and presented papers on topics relevant to the construction industry.

David is a registered Adjudicator under the Building Industry Fairness (Security of Payment) Act 2017 (Qld), an accredited Mediator, and a member of prominent industry associations including the Brisbane Development Association and the Urban Development Institute of Australia. In addition to his law degree, he has also completed a Masters of Law (Commercial) and a Bachelor of Information Technology.
